Apple CEO Tim Cook told NBC's Brian Williams in an interview that airs Thursday night at 10 p.m. EST that the company intends to make one of its Mac lines in the United States next year. Apple would not reveal where exactly the Macs will be manufactured. Cook said that some components — like the processor and the glass for the iPhone — are already made in the U.S. He said the company will spend $100 million on manufacturing in the U.S. with contract manufacturers sometime in 2013. Cook, who joined Apple in 1998, said he believes it's important to bring more jobs to the United States.
In related news, Bloomberg reports that Foxconn — Apple's biggest supplier — also plans to expand U.S. manufacturing. Foxconn spokesman Louis Woo told the site:
