Apple plans to offer its own original content

Apple reportedly plans to offer original video content just like Netflix and HBO. The company is now looking into buying scripted TV programs.

The TV series will then be bundled with Apple Music's monthly subscription service. This new business venture would give the company a big point of difference against its music streaming rival Spotify.

Apple has already some experience with original content by planning a TV series of Carpool Karaoke, which will feature different pairs of musicians and celebrities for a 16 episode run. The initial plan was to team up with existing networks to showcase content or to stream it through Apple's own services, but no deal could be struck, so now Apple is looking to go it alone.
