According to a report from analyst firm Ovum, half of the world's fibre subscribers by 2016 will be in China. China's dominance will stem from strong growth in subscriber numbers and from domestic vendor's healthy exports. It is expected that by 2016, the Chinese market will reach 100 million subscribers, which will then be more than 50% of the world's fibre subscribers. Currently, only 4% of Chinese households take advantage of FTTx service. Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE are also expected to continue their 2010 dominance of the fibre broadband equipment market through 2011 and into the next few years.
